Here on the Olympic Peninsula we’ve had a rough time. The worst wind storm I’ve ever seen roared through here Sunday and Monday. The second stronger round took off a piece of my barn and destroyed the hoop house we built last spring. As part of my rotation of resources, the hoop house was home for 50 Buff Orpington pullets who were left wandering in the drenching rain and violent gusts of wind. Kurt was having a wisdom tooth pulled at that moment! The electricity went out in the middle of the storm.
We rounded up the pullets and moved them to the hen house on the back of the barn. It’s a little crowded but everyone is doing well and by the end of the week most have discovered the open window with the chicken ramp to the pasture behind the barn. There they join Daisy the Dexter Cow and her Calf T-Bone. We are almost back to normal.
